From Type A Society… This shoot was an especially fun project, not only because of the team of vendors involved, but the location is one that I’ve dreamt of for some time! My fiancé and his family grew up just around the corner from Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate, so when the John and Marlene Koman approached Type A with this location, I jumped at the opportunity.
Even with the lingering damage of the Woolsey fire that burned through the area in the previous year, the winery and estate are still absolutely breathtaking. Much of my inspiration for the design and creative direction of the shoot came from the surroundings and the estate itself. We went with warmer golden tones with a contrasting slate blue color pallet that mirrored the rustic Tuscan tones of the estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The ceremony on the helicopter pad was kept simple and elegant to not take from the stunning views, and instead compliment the surroundings. The tablescape we created was by far one of my favorites to date, it was so warm and welcoming! It was a joy working with the Koman’s who were so generous with their time and creativity. This team was a dream and I cannot wait to create beauty with them again! And Jessica (The Elegant Ninja) and Howard’s (MRO owner) hospitality! They were the most welcoming of hosts!
